Tapinoma sp.
A small series (1 male and 7 workers) of this species was collected in the south of Kalmykia in grassy depression in sandy desert. In characters of workers, especially in very weak median clypeal excavation, it is very similar to Tapinoma kinburni Karavaiev, 1937 and T. emeryanum Kuznetsov-Ugamsky, 1927. However, collected specimens have somewhat larger size of the body and darker coloration. In characters of male genitalia this species seems very similar to the drawing in original description of Tapinoma christophi Emery, 1925 (workers of this species are unknown). However, it is not yet possible to determine the exact species identity of a series collected in Kalmykia without comparison with type specimens of Carlo Emery.
