Monomorium sp.
This species was mentioned by M.D. Ruzsky (1903, 1905) for Astrakhan region as “Monomorium salomonis Linn.”: This species, which was known to me from Transcaucasia and Transcaspian region, I found on the steppe at the foot of Bol’shoe Bogdo mountain (originally in Russian: “Этотъ видъ, который былъ мнѣ извѣстенъ изъ Закавказья и Закаспійской области, я нашелъ на степи у подножія Бол. Богдо.”). The collection where this is kept the specimens collected by Ruzsky is unknown, and my attempts to find the species again, which I made during the three years of my work in the Bogdinsko-Baskunchaksky Nature Reserve (where the location of the find is), were unsuccessful. Most probably, the reference, as well as all the references of “M. salomonis” of Ruzsky from Kazakhstan and Central Asia refers to M. kusnezovi Santschi, 1928 (Dlussky et al., 1990). But having no collection material, it is impossible to state this exactly.
